zazen meetings

Zazen, or seated Zen contemplation, is offered at the city Zen Centre. The schedule is shown in the table below.
The zazen periods are twenty-five minutes each, with a five-minute kinhin (walking practice) between. Cushions, kneeling benches and stools are provided for zazen. The daily zazen meetings are spread over early mornings, evenings and mid-morning weekends to suit the varying family and work schedules of people. Tea is served at the close of the meetings.

Questions and discussion are welcome following the meetings. This can also be a time to learn of other activities at the Centre.

After the Saturday and Sunday meetings is a cleaning time followed by a social get-together.

intensives

The Zen Centre holds both one day and seven day intensives. Zen intensives consist of zazen, chanting, kinhin, meals in the traditional three bowl style, and work periods. Eshin gives Dharma talks each morning and meets privately with each person daily. People are expected to be familiar with the style of practise by having attended the Zen Centre first. Upcoming intensives can be found on the Schedule web page.

One day intensives are held each month and seven day intensives, traditionally called sesshins, are held four times a year.
