| Sesshins are traditional seven day Zen retreats. They are held in February, April, June, August and November. The sesshins include lots of sitting along with chanting, walking, eating and work practice. It is a time of steady, continuous practice to contemplate and manifest the moment to moment relationship we are in. Although strenuous, sesshins have great benefits. Eshin supports and guides participants with a daily Zen talk and frequent individual meetings. About a third of the participants are from out of Vancouver: Prince George, Kitimat, Montreal, Winnipeg, Comox and Powell River in Canada; and also England, Bosnia and the US. | Buddha's Birthday ceremony and potluck lunch are held every spring. This is the largest gathering of the year where partners and children are most welcome. Besides the sangha there are guests checking out the Opening Day that occurs concurrently. After the traditional ceremony everyone enjoyed a lively and delicious potluck lunch. |

| In August 2007 the centre moved to a new building. It is 50% larger allowing for the planned expanded activities. It will require renovations over time to create a suitable layout for our Zen practice. |
