Online practice meetings

Maintaining sangha practice during Covid19

Online meetings are being held throughout the week. These allow an online sangha practice with Eshin, so that in this time of physical distancing our sangha can still connect and share our practice, our presence, and our support for each other.

These meetings are open to all that have a meditation practice and wish to join. If you are new to the centre and wishing to participate in these online meetings, please contact Eshin through the newcomers page here to introduce yourself.

Guidelines and Online Zendo Customs:

Join zoom here:

Please join sittings a few minutes before the scheduled time, so as to be seated and settled in place before the period of zazen begins. The zoom zendo is opened 10 – 15 mins before the first sit.

● Microphones are preset to muted.
● Silence in the online zendo during sitting periods.
● For kinhin, feel free to stretch your legs or use the bathroom.

Tips for using Zoom

Zoom can be used on desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, and phones. The browser will give instructions for Zoom to operate. On some devices, such as phones, a Zoom app is also available.

You can pre-test your audio and video from these instruction at Zoom Support.

Please mute your microphone except when you wish to talk. To do this, click on the microphone icon (conveniently labelled Mute/Unmute). The image of a microphone with a slash indicates mute.

Gallery View or Speaker View. Gallery View is best. When this is chosen, the button shows the alternate view, not the current one.

Video can be stopped or started. A red slash line through the icon shows stopped.

Chat: Please do not use.

Participants: allows attendees to see who else is in the online zendo. Click the “Participants” button to open the Participants box.

Do not click the Share Screen button. If you do everyone will see the content of your computer or phone.

See you soon
