We will be meeting and practicing on Zoom using the regular online meeting link to join.
Try to find a place to practice where you will not be interrupted. Sit in a place in your home that is quiet. You can set up a small table or bench and set anything on it that inspires you to practice meditation. An example would be a statue, a picture, candle, or incense. This is optional. Sit on a meditation cushion, a pillow or a chair. Keep your speakers on for cues for walking meditation, breaks, interviews, etc. Have the screen to one side of you so you’re not looking directly at it. Your steadiness helps everyone’s practice.
If you’re confused about the schedule, don’t worry. Just show up and follow along.
Use the walking meditation to use the bathroom or get a drink of water when needed. Your steadiness helps everyone’s practice.
There will be breaks for lunch and dinner. This is a time to eat, rest, exercise, do house cleaning, or read a Zen book. Be careful to keep the retreat focus going by not getting too distracted with screens and unfocused activities.
Affirming Faith Mind, the Heart Sutra and the Four Bodhisattva Vows will be chanted during the first morning sit. Chant along but keep your microphone off. The chants can be seen here, or
Eshin will call each registered person in turn to the virtual meeting room. This will be a chance to ask any questions you have about your practice.
