Koshin and Soshin have moved from Mt Baldy Zen Center to Vashon Island by Seattle. They are starting the Puget Sound Zen Center. It’s now the closest Rinzai-ji center to Vancouver and Victoria. Eshin, Myorei, Eshu and Nathan attended the January sesshin at Mt Baldy Zen Center. Nathan plans to stay through the next sesshin.

Eshin attended Bodhi Manda Zen Center's opening of their new Foundation Hall. The hall is in recognizition of Kyozan roshi bringing our lineage to the west.
   
Paul Frost is now an 'at home' father for Adam. He took a generous settlement with his employer while his wife Fiona works at the job she loves. Paul continues to sit at home and attends the monthly zazen-kais at the centre.

Fred and Louise Newman are finding time for the zendo on a regular basis. They are long time students of Roshi who have been very involved with their family for many years. Welcome back to the zendo!

Dale Hofmann moved to New York in November. He's been part of the Zen Centre since 1996 and had been helping with the administration. Best wishes for his new start.

Jason Michas has moved to Toronto this October to help further his musical career. Good luck for your music, Jason.

The latest show of Stuart Sind's paintings is at Bau-Xi gallery (3045 Granville St) October 5 - 26. Stuart's new house is now finished on Bowen Island.

Kazumi and Eshin attended the September sesshin at Mt Baldy ZC. It was Kazumi's first time with Roshi.

Betsy Williams dropped by the Centre in early August. She now lives in South Australia with her husband and was visiting Canada for a few days. Betsy is on the right with Corinne.

 

Janice will be in Vancouver over the holiday season. Come to the zazen meetings to say ‘Hi’ and catch up with her news from Winnipeg.

Jason phoned from Toronto to say ‘Hi’ to the centre. He will be travelling to Vancouver several times at the start of the new year and looks forward to visiting the Centre and meeting old friends.

Two couples have babies on the way. Amazingly, the due dates for both are the same - January 14 2004. Congratulations to Eshu and Niki on their second child, and to Martina and Uwe on their first.

Eshin led the annual November weekend zazen-kai in Prince George. Ten people attended, this time with an extended zazen schedule and formal meals. All did very well and expressed appreciation and a strong desire to do more, maybe twice a year.

Eshin and Myorei visited their families in Europe from mid-September to the end of October. Erin stayed at the centre through this time to help maintain the building. She has been training at Mt Baldy Zen Center through several training periods and is moving to Calgary.

On June 25 Sokai and his wife Marie visited the centre while on a trip to his family here. Sokai is responsible for Hakuun-ji in Phoenix. They had time to have breakfast at the centre before going to check out a large mogukyo at one of Vancouver's temple supply stores.
